We have become aware of some audio issues impacting Apple devices that have updated to iOS 18. If you are using an Apple device using iOS18, you may be experiencing problems with recording in projects and audio playback.
Here are a couple of recommendations we have for those impacted.
Update to 9.1.3
Check to see if you have updated the Voloco app to version 9.1.3. This can be done by scrolling to the bottom of the settings page in the app or by searching for Voloco on the Apple App Store.
Use a Wired Headset
Using a wired headset or earbuds may help mitigate the problem. To learn more about why using a wired headset with Voloco is generally recommended, see 'Why should I use wired headphones?'
Disable "Sound Recognition"
"Sound Recognition" is an iOS accessibility feature that enables your phone to continuously listen for certain sounds, like a fire alarm, and notify you when the sound is detected. This feature interferes with Voloco's ability to record audio.
To find and disable "Sound Recognition," you can search for it in the Settings app or follow this path:
Open Settings -> Accessibility -> Sound Recognition
Disable "Vocal Shortcuts"
"Vocal Shortcuts" is an iOS accessibility feature that allows you to record spoken phrases on your phone and associate them with device behaviors, like saying "Open Camera" to open the camera app. This feature interferes with Voloco's ability to record audio.
To find and disable "Vocal Shortcuts," you can search for it in the Settings app or follow this path:
Open Settings -> Accessibility -> Vocal Shortcuts
Restart Your Device
Restarting your device may mitigate the issue when reopening Voloco.
Our team is currently working to identify a permanent fix. If you continue to have issues recording in Voloco on iOS 18, please get in touch with us at support@resonantcavity.com.
